The tension from the garden had barely settled when the heavy front doors swung open.
Vardhan Uncle, Surya’s father, strode in, bringing a different kind of energy with him. He looked tired; the dust of the party office clinging to his shoes, but his smile was genuine when he saw us. Unlike my father, whose presence sucked the air out of a room, Vardhan Uncle seemed to bring oxygen back into it.
